What Is SSC Selection Post Phase 14?

SSC Selection Post is a national level government recruitment exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission every year. It has separate posts for candidates who have passed 10th, 12th, and graduation. Phase 14 is the latest cycle this year with 3003 vacancies released across multiple central government departments. The exam is tentatively scheduled for June 2026. There is no interview in the selection process — only a Computer Based Test and document verification.

What Is in It for Pharmacy Graduates?

This is the part most blogs miss. SSC Phase 14 specifically includes Pharmacist (Allopathic) posts under the graduate level category. Over 140 pharmacist-related vacancies have been announced under SSC Selection Post Phase 14, with salary ranging from Rs. 29,200 to Rs. 92,300 along with central government benefits including HRA, DA, and pension.

Apart from pharmacist posts, graduate level also includes Junior Chemist, Lab Assistant Grade II, and Research Assistant posts where science background candidates can apply.

Eligibility — Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

For Pharmacist posts, candidates must have B.Pharm or D.Pharm with 2 years of experience and must be a registered pharmacist. Some posts are open to freshers as well. Check the official notification PDF for post-wise qualification details.

Age Limit

The minimum age is 18 years and the maximum age is 30 years depending on the specific post. Age relaxation is provided to reserved category candidates as per government rules. OBC candidates get 3 years relaxation and SC/ST candidates get 5 years relaxation.

Salary — Exactly How Much Will You Earn?

The salary ranges from Rs. 29,200 to Rs. 92,300 along with central government benefits like HRA, DA, and pension.

Most pharmacist posts fall under Pay Level 5. At Pay Level 5, the basic pay starts at Rs. 29,200. After adding DA, HRA, and TA, the in-hand salary for a fresher typically comes between Rs. 35,000 and Rs. 45,000 per month depending on the city of posting. With seniority and increments, this can go up to Rs. 92,300.

Along with salary, you get pension, gratuity, medical reimbursement, and job security — benefits that are simply not possible at this salary level in the private pharma sector.

Exam Pattern — How Does Selection Work?

The exam consists of 100 MCQ questions and there is no interview. The selection process includes a Computer Based Examination, skill test where applicable, and document verification.

The exam covers General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Language. Pharmacist posts may also include subject specific questions — confirm from the official notification.

Is This the Right Opportunity for Pharma Freshers?

Honest answer. If you are a fresher and the 2 years experience condition is blocking you, first build experience through state level pharmacist posts or hospital pharmacist jobs. But if you already have 2 years of experience and want a government job, this notification is worth applying to right now.

The biggest advantage of SSC Phase 14 is that the exam is straightforward, there is no interview, and the selection process is fully transparent. If you are tired of the uncertainty in private pharma jobs, this is a solid and stable option.

Final Advice

The notification came on April 13 and the last date is May 4 — you have just about 3 weeks to apply. First download the official notification PDF from ssc.gov.in, confirm your post-wise eligibility, and fill the form. You will get time to prepare after applying — but apply first.
